The DRC, located in central Africa, is roughly two thrids the size of western Europe and is heavily forested. The vast size and terrain create challanges for the government, rebels, and internatinal forces.

Multiple rebel groups operate within the DRC. This recent info graphic shows general locations and a sampling of the different groups.

Whether a blessing or a curse the DRC is home to vast reserves of natural resources. In addition to these the DRC also has vast waterways capable of generating high amounts of hydroelectric power.
